Published: 25-Nov-2009

To offer mobile banking solutions to customers from spring 2010

Scotiabank has entered into a partnership with M-Com, an international mobile banking and payments solution provider, that will bring mobile banking to Scotiabank customers in the spring of 2010.

Scotiabank's mobile banking service will provide personal and small business customers with easy access to their Scotiabank accounts from their mobile device, regardless of their mobile service provider. Customers will be able to view balances and transaction history, pay bills and make transfers.

Mike Henry, SVP of sales and service at Scotiabank, said: "With more than 22 million cell phone subscribers in Canada, wireless phones are among the fastest growing consumer products in history. Canadians rely on the convenience of mobile devices to help them manage their busy lifestyles, and having the ability to do their banking from their mobile devices will simplify their lives that much more.

"The launch of mobile banking for Scotiabank customers next spring further demonstrates our commitment to offering innovative, convenient and secure banking solutions for our customers."

Adam Clark, CEO of M-Com, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with Scotiabank to bring our mobile banking, expertise to Canada. We will be leveraging our experience delivering mobile banking solutions internationally to extend our 100 per cent implementation success rate. By spring 2010, any Scotiabank customer with a mobile device can have secure access to their bank accounts - anywhere, any time."
