Intercontinental Exchange, Blockstream introduce consolidated data feed for cryptocurrencies

BBR Staff Writer Published 19 January 2018

Global exchanges operator Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and blockchain technologies provider Blockstream have introduced a consolidated data feed for cryptocurrencies.

The Cryptocurrency Data Feed is a multi-asset and multi-venue data feed, which captures the majority of cryptocurrency exchange trading volume for important cryptocurrencies measured against the US dollar and other crucial currency pairs.

The exclusive deal between ICE Data Services and Blockstream provide expanded coverage of prices and order book data for bitcoin and various other major cryptocurrencies.

Blockstream, along with global cryptocurrency exchanges, will consolidate the disparate data sets into a normalized and standardized data source that comprises real-time and historical trade information, as well as other related order book data such as quantities, prices, currencies and timestamps.

It will help ICE Data Services’ customers to secure global market representative trading data in a real-time feed with quality information.

ICE Data Services’ new feed, which will provide real-time cryptocurrency information, will initially cover data from over 15 cryptocurrency exchange venues across the globe.

The ICE Data Services Consolidated Feed will offer access to more than 450 normalized real-time market data feeds.

It works under ICE’s Connectivity service, which provides secure and low latency networks, global colocation and the SFTI Direct Market Access network of more than 300 venues and 600 sources.

Blockstream CEO Adam Back said: “At Blockstream, we build technologies that help cryptocurrency to reach its full potential. Our work on the Cryptocurrency Data Feed is providing improved cryptocurrency market data through information sharing via our open, collaborative working relationships with cryptocurrency exchanges around the world.

“We are excited to work closely with ICE and cryptocurrency exchanges globally to deliver this data service that we believe will significantly reduce the barriers to broader trading of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.”
